Procedure

A BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is a fairly simple procedure. Before the injections are made, you’ll probably be nervous – this is very typical. Try to relax, since you don’t really need to worry so much if you’ve chosen the right injector. You’ll be in good hands, so just breathe deeply and visualize yourself in a tropical paradise (it might help!). You can also bring along a friend or family member who can talk to you during the procedure to make it a more comfortable one. Either way, relaxing is the best thing you can do prior to injection because it can help reduce the occurrence and severity of negative side effects, particularly headaches.

Your medical practitioner will examine your skin and concern to determine the amount of BOTOX® to administer. Then, photos may be taken. The entire injection process lasts only a few minutes and usually involves several tiny injections made into the muscles of the designated area. The treatment can vary from 10 minutes to just under an hour, depending on the number of areas you’d like to target and the concern you’d like to address. The application of topical anesthetic, and waiting for the numbing to take effect, can also increase the time of your treatment.

After the injection(s) have been made, your injector will examine the area again then provide you with after-treatment care instructions. Then, you’ll be free to leave the clinic and resume your regular activities.
